T is for Trailer (the Book Kind)

You know how they make trailers to advertise movies? Well, just in case you're unaware, people now make trailers to advertise books! Book trailers often utilise images a lot more than video clips, and there's generally text on the screen to tell you a bit about the book, though sometimes there's a voice over.

Want to see an example of a book trailer? Here's my first attempt!

I've noticed that Movie Maker for Windows 7 is pretty limited in terms of detailed editing, especially in the sound department. So apologies for the stop-start you may notice between different bits of the "soundtrack".

Do you want your book to have a trailer?
Does a good book trailer influence whether you buy a book or not?

Very clever, Rachel.

Love the name of the book and author.

The black and white images are amazing.

LOL.

It would be nice to have a book trailer, although it doesn't often influence whether or not I buy/read a book.

Odd about the Movie Maker--the one on this computer for Vista has pretty good editing.

I've looked at trailers for books I've already heard of, but I've never had one sway me to buy it (either way). An author friend of mine, Megan Bostic, has been doing trailers for awhile and after hearing about her process, I know I'd never be able to do it on my own!

Pretty good! My husband and I just worked on a presentation for an upcoming tour and used iMovie.

hahaha awesome book trailer. Although a book trailer is something that advertises the book, I'm not convinced they make a huge difference. They might help people remember the title though, or they might tweak interest in the book so they have to be a good thing.

Ha! That is awesome. I would love to have a book trailer, think I'd derive much enjoyment creating one.
Personally, I don't think the trailer makes a lot of impact for me though as I've usually already decided to buy the book before viewing the trailer. ;-)

Haha, that is AWESOME! I laughed at the (other emotive word) bit. :D

I think book trailers can be helpful. My co-author and I have one for our fantasy series. :)

(Sorry for the deleted comment--I tried to put something in brackets and it erased it because of html coding. Pfft.)

LOved it! I've been playing too and I made a trailer for the Now Showing Blogfest. It will go up tomorrow. It doesn't technically work as a book trailer...yet.
