Six Sentence Sunday: The trees continue to spin...

This week's Six Sentence Sunday comes from the fourth installment in the Creepy Hollow series, MASQUERADE. Hope you like!

The trees continue to spin. Pain starts to fade into a strange numbness. I raise a shaking hand to my face and feel a whole lot of stickiness running down my cheek. If I could touch the back of my head, I’d probably find blood there as well. I’m too terrified to put my hands anywhere near my stomach; I know the damage is bad. Is it bad enough that my body won’t be able to heal itself before it ... shuts down?

Six Sentence Sunday: "Whatever game you're playing..."

Traitor, the third installment in the Creepy Hollow series, is due to be released this coming Friday--if all goes according to plan (which, last time, it didn't!). Until then, here are six sentences to keep you entertained!

Ryn leans forward, the same way he did when telling Aria to mind her own business. “Whatever game you’re playing, you’re going to lose,” he whispers. “And I’ll be right there to say ‘I told you so’ when it happens.”
“Great. Well, at least I have something to look forward to.” I cross my arms. “Now why don’t you go parade your lack of dignity somewhere else?”

Six Sentence Sunday: "I tilt my head back and..."

Today's six sentences come from the opening scene of Traiter, the third installment in the Creepy Hollow series (due to be released in late May).

I tilt my head back and let out a groan. Counseling. That thing where I have to discuss my feelings about killing someone. Great. The list of things I’m not good at is pretty short, but feelings are probably at the top. Fortunately, my kill count is pretty low, so I haven’t had to do the counseling thing too often.

Guardian Gets Around

Thanks to Smashwords' distribution program, I have found Guardian on the following ebook retail sites:

Sadly, though I've been consistently searching, I have yet to find Guardian on Barnes and Noble and the iBookstore. If you can find it there, please let me know!

Like last week, my six are from the second installment in the Creepy Hollow series (which will be published in early April).

He looks at the wall of water, then back at me. “But you’re a girl. Can’t you multitask?”
I lean my head back against the rough, stone wall. “I refuse to let you talk me into a make-out session in a dodgy, underground tunnel. I have standards, you know.”

Six Sentence Sunday (6)

Hop on over to the Six Sentence Sunday website to check out the other participants' "sixes".

My six are from Creepy Hollow #2 (which has a name, but I have not yet shared it ;-) ).

Flint stands in the doorway.
“Have you been roped in as part of the cheering up committee?” I ask him.
Tora’s blonde and green head appears over her brother’s shoulder. “I thought I’d need extra help pulling you from the depths of despair.” She looks me up and down. “But, surprisingly, you seem fine.”

Six Sentence Sunday (5)

You can find all the other participants at the Six Sentence Sunday website. And I actually remembered to get my name on the list in time this week!

These six sentences come from GUARDIAN, my novelette that launches at the beginning of March.

Then I think of what I’m about to lose because of him. I could be expelled, or, at the very least, suspended. All my training could be for nothing. All the blood, the bruises, the pain. The nightmares that come after having to kill someone. I may have gone through that for nothing—all because this boy couldn’t just stay in his damn bedroom.

Six Sentence Sunday (4)

I always seem to be too late to officially add my name to the linky list for Six Sentence Sunday! Probably because I only ever think of it once it's already Sunday, and names are supposed to be added to the list before Sunday...

Ah, well. No worries!

I snap the book shut and look up to see Nate standing in the doorway. He pulls the door closed behind him and walks over to the bed. “You know, normal people would use the front door,” he says.
“Normal people wouldn’t even be able to see that I’m here,” I tell him. Nate pushes the textbook out of the way and climbs onto the bed. “I guess neither of us is normal then.”

This picture has nothing to do with these six sentences.
I just picked it 'cos I needed a picture... and it looked
interesting... and I couldn't think of anything else.

Six Sentence Sunday (3)

There are numerous other entries for Six Sentence Sunday, if you'd like to read them.

"I'll make sure Tora knows about this," he says as he steps through the doorway. "You know, just in case you forget to mention it to her." The air closes up behind him.
Great, great, great. I wish I was still at the age where having a tantrum would be acceptable. I've never known anyone to mess up an assignment this badly and I'm pretty sure it's not even my fault.

Six Sentence Sunday (2)

Once again I am too late to link to the official Six Sentence Sunday list (perhaps next week I'll be organised in time!), but I'm posting anyway :-)

She streaks across the room, lamplight reflecting off her scaly skin. I fling my arms into position and feel the prickly warmth of the bow and arrow as they materialize in my hands. I pull back and let go. The arrow zooms across the room in a shower of orange-gold sparks, finding its mark in the woman's shoulder.
She cries out and stumbles, but doesn't fall. She twists her head in my direction and her black eyes find mine before she whispers, "It's happening already."

Six Sentence Sunday (1)

Today I discovered Six Sentence Sunday. I'm too late to officially add my name to today's list (they close the linky list at 9am EST), but since it's still Sunday where I live, and in celebration of the fact that I started writing again today (Yes! It's true! After months (yup, that's a plural) of unintentional non-writing!), I am going to post my first six sentences:

My assignment tonight is cuter than most. He’s fallen asleep at his desk, his cheek stuck to the open page of a textbook. I step down off the window seat and pad slowly across the room. It’s bigger than I first thought, more like a hotel suite than a regular bedroom. Great. More places for things to hide.
