On Monday night, I was fortunate enough to speak at the launch of a book club at
St Mary's DSG (my very first speaking engagement! The first of many, I hope!). The Grade 8 and 9 girls had decorated the room beautifully to match the colours of my book cover - purple, pink and blue! And there was sparkly stuff because, you know, MAGIC!

I don't know what this room normally looks like, but on Monday night it was gorgeous. |

Isn't that cool?! |

Look, I'm signing a book! |

Pajamas + faerie wings = awesome combo! |

More sparkly decorations! |
I've missed speaking to young people since I left teaching at the end of last year, so it was really cool to speak to these girls. They had great questions and fantastic ideas about where to take their newly launched book club in the future. KEEP READING AND WRITING, GIRLS, and THANK YOU FOR INVITING ME!

How wonderful!! Looks like they went all out with the decorations.
It must be wonderful to be part of launching a book club. Well done.
That is so cool, love those decorations! Congratulations and well done.
That room looked so cool. And so did you signing those books. You're lucky you were a teacher. It probably helps with the public speaking. I'm pretty scared of that part of being an author even if I am an attorney.
Looks like you had a great time! The room looks very nice and you got to sign a book! Cool!
That was wonderful. Thanks for sharing.
Wow, they really went all out for you, Rachel. That's so cool!
Looks like you all had a great time! And they did such a beautiful job decorating. Bravo! :D
Wow! That looks like so much fun! Big congrats on your first speaking engagement :) The room was beautiful.
The girls outdid themselves with the decorations. It looks so professional! Love it. Congrats on your first speaking engagement. Must have been exciting!
That place looks lovely, and you look gorgeous, Rachel.
I only ever do workshops, never a speaking engagement!
That's so cool! I guess being a teacher makes you immune to the shivering nervousness that I'd experience in that situation :-)
Definitely not immune, Annalisa! It certainly helped, but I was still nervous!
