Book Cover Trends: The Grey, Red and White of New Adult and Adult Fiction

When I set out to write this post, I thought I'd be using maybe five or six covers. But after some searching I've come up with FOURTEEN! And though I didn't find them all in the same place, I think it's possible that all except one come from the same cover designer. (Okay Creations)

So. Have you noticed all the recent books with grey, red & white color schemes? (I'm somewhat of a book cover junkie, so I look out for these things ;-) ) If you haven't, take a look below...

Kinda makes me feel like I need to get me a grey, red and white book cover!

2013/04/03 Update
Just found another two from the same cover designer!

Cool covers! You think the B&W with striking red is to convey maturity, yet something bold? I have no idea btw, but they're pretty. :)

Those are pretty covers. I hadn't quite realized so many were going towards black/white/red.

Nice observation Rachel. I love the Bound Together cover. :)

Neat covers! I read an article in the paper the other day that said black represents sophistication and red represents boldness, and that all manufacturers market to what colors represent. In particular, Lancome has mostly black make-up cases to promote its image of elegant sophistication. And so on . . .

Happy Easter, Rachel, to you and yours!

That's a lot of grey area.
Mine's not black and white!

A recent trend in urban fantasy covers has been adding yellow and gold. They used to be very dark, with a dash of purple.
