Hunger Games Sadness

I'm feeling very left out at the moment reading all the posts about people planning to watch The Hunger Games this weekend and how excited they are. Just so you guys know, I REALLY WANT TO WATCH IT NOW TOO! But, sadly, the movie is only coming out here (South Africa) in THREE WEEKS TIME :-( Because clearly none of the in-charge-of-movie-releases-in-this-country people know what a big deal this is. And they are so missing out. And they're making us miss out.
*sniff*

Feel free to tell me in the comments how awesome the movie is!

PS - Because I'm a super multi-tasker, I'm also over at Arlee Bird's Tossing it Out today, talking about stop motion videos :-)

And I got tagged!

Daisy Carter from Fresh as a Daisy and Madeleine Maddocks from Scribble and Edit have both tagged me in the Lucky Seven game :-)

The Rules:
1. Go to page 77 of your current MS/WIP
2. Go to line 7
3. Copy down the next 7 lines - sentences or paragraphs - and post them as they're written. No cheating.

This is from an MS I haven't looked at in nearly a year. I promise I didn't cheat. I'm just glad there was some interesting conversation happening on page 77! (In case you're confused, the MC is talking to Seth, but the character Max is also in the room.)

“I’ll have you know that there is no world that exists where I could possibly have been attracted to you.” She glanced quickly at Max, who was watching them from the comfort of his chair. He was now lounging sideways, his hands behind his head and his feet propped up on the armrest of Seth’s chair.

Seth laughed loudly. “Your passionate denial is amusing.” He reached over and ran a finger slowly down her cheek. “I could have you if I wanted, and any other girl too,” he boasted.

And I got an award!

Thanks so much, Melissa and Krista, for passing this award onto me :-)

  • Favorite Color: Purple
  • Favorite Animal: Tough choice. I'm gonna go with Scrat from Ice Age.
  • Favorite Number: 13. It's supposedly unlucky, but I was born on the 13th :-)
  • Favorite Non-Alcoholic Drink: Fruit juice
  • Facebook or Twitter: Hmm. If I had to choose to only use one forever... Ugh, no, I can't choose. They serve different purposes! Okay fine. Facebook.
  • My Passions: Reading, writing, family, friends, God (not necessarily in that order!)
  • Getting or Giving Presents: Giving. Especially when I know the person well and it's something I KNOW they will love!
  • Favorite Pattern: Something with curly-flowery-leafy vectors.
  • Favorite Day of the Week: Friday. Duh!
  • Favorite Flower: Um ... the red ones?

Sounds like someone needs to watch that on the Internet. And being out of US jurisdiction, you can do that without fear of retribution. Just saying.

You are not alone...Norway,same problem

I live in the US, but I promised a friend that I would wait to see it with her in two weeks when she comes home from college, so I'm in the same boat. I desperately want to see it! But I have to be patient.

Joshua - But I want the Real In-The-Movie-Theatre experience! So I will wait...

Siv - I feel your pain!

Krista - You're a really good friend :-)

I don't have to wait as long, but I'm not sure when I'll get to see it--sometime when my hubby's work schedule allows him to go, too. I can't wait--I want to see it sooo much.

I like your excerpt. :D And congrats on the award!

It sucks that we have to wait until the 13th. Silly Ster Kinekor/Nu Metro do not have their priorities right. But I'll have my ticket for when it finally opens here and I'll go see it on release day. Can't wait!

Wifey and I were going to watch it today but have a sick kid so will watch it on Monday. We're looking forward to it!

Congratulations on the award!

I hope that character shows him what she's made of. Great excerpt!

First, congratulations on your A-Z video win! It was really cute:)

Second, I'm not seeing The Hunger Games yet, either. The theater is over an hour away and will no doubt be crowded! I'll wait til Spring Break is over.

Third, your meme was hot!!! I want to know more:)

You're always so crazy busy! So many things going on ;)

I'll see Hunger Games when the hype dies down... and fun little excerpt and you deserve all the awards blogersphere has to offer! ;)

My wife & I saw it today here in Canada. Hopefully it's a small consolation when I tell you it's so worth the wait, smart adaptation with a wonderful cast.

That's an intriguing excerpt!

13 is also my favourite number, for the same reason! What month is your birthday?

Love your snippet! Sounds like a lot of tension! :)

I loved your A-Z video.

Seth is arrogant, but he also sounds like a great character for tension.

Have a great weekend.

Sorry you have to wait!
Your post at the Challenge blog was great.

Congrats on the award.

I haven't read the books yet. I won't be seeing the movie until I read at least the first one.

And I have no idea when that will be.

Congrats on the award Rachel! I loved that scene and so want to read more - thank you for sharing! :)

I love that little snippet :-)

My girls had the chance to see it on Friday with their friends, but they decided to wait and go with me next Wednesday. (I think they just want to make sure I actually get out of the house!).

Your snippet is interesting and Congrats on the award!

My country is also missing out on the Hunger Games release!

Ahh, I feel your pain about the movie! I have NO idea when it'll even get to Spain (translations are incredibly variable in how long they take). Soon, hopefully, though, because it's killing me!

Krista McLaughlin said...

Well, I didn't see that, but I gave you the same award over at my blog! I guess you really do have a lot of sunshine. :)

Matthew MacNish said...

We saw it yesterday, and it was very good. I won't say more, because I don't want to ruin anything for you.

Wow, you sure know how to pack a LOT of info into one post! I can't tell you anything about Hunger Games because I'm one of those people who've been so buried in challenge prep that I don't get out much, or have much reading times. I do also have a rule for myself: read the book first. Sigh. So it will be a while before I get to see it. And it will probably be a rented copy. Going to movies is not in my budget if I also want wine, so I choose the wine and the rental ;-)
So excited to have you at my place tomorrow! You're all set to go live at 4am MST.

I did enjoy the movie. Movies are never as good as the books, but this one came pretty close.

Have a great week!

It was a good movie, with some problems at the start. My review is at

I'm very impressed with Jennifer Lawrence.

I haven't seen it yet either if it makes you feel any better. I'm waiting 'til Sunday so I can watch it with all of my friends. We're going to form a mob! (But you know, the happy kind armed with popcorn buckets instead of torches.)
