Two Years of Creepy Hollow: Time for a GIVEAWAY!

Some of you will remember that I first began publishing Creepy Hollow as a series of novelettes (Guardian, Labyrinth, Traitor, Masquerade ...). That began in March 2012, so more than two years ago. But the first NOVEL, the compilation of those four parts along with a couple of bonus scenes, which formed The Faerie Guardian, was published in October 2012. TWO YEARS AGO THIS MONTH!

Creepy Hollow has done better out there than I could ever have hoped, and its two-year anniversary is an excellent time to celebrate!

You could win a set of all three Creepy Hollow paperbacks, or a signed Creepy Hollow postcard and bookmark. This giveaway is open internationally :-)

Brand New Covers for the Creepy Hollow Series!

I am soooooooo excited to reveal these new covers! I love, love, love my original covers in print. They look so cool on the paperback copies on my shelf. But these new covers look super kickass on the ebooks. So without wasting any more words (because I know you'll just scroll down anyway ;-) ), heeeeeeeeeere they are!!

THE FAERIE WAR

A little more behind the process...

Any designer who is also a writer will tell you that the hardest book covers to design are one's own. I struggled to come up with a set of covers that I LOVED! Several months ago, before I revealed the print cover for THE FAERIE WAR, I designed a new set of covers for the Creepy Hollow ebooks. Here they are:

I really liked these covers, and they looked super cool close up, but I realized after a while that at thumbnail size it was difficult to see what was on them. There wasn't enough contrast between the background and the model on each cover. So ... I started again. And here's what I came up with the second time:

I liked these covers too, and I really wanted them to be the final version after all the time I spent on them, but when I was honest with myself, I still didn't LOVE them. *sigh* So it was back to the beginning AGAIN. And this time I decided to go with something simpler. Those other covers were cool, but there was just too MUCH happening on them. You know what they say -- less is more ;-) And this time, when I was done, I LOVED the covers. Third time lucky!

Giveaway time!

My Facebook page recently reached 1000 likes. Woohoo! So I'm having a little giveaway to celebrate. You can enter below :-)

Indie Life: The Pressure of Following up a Good Book

This is my first Indie Life post! Yay!
Indie Life is a monthly feature hosted by the fabulous Indelibles.

~  ~  ~

So. I just finished the blog tour for my second novel, The Faerie Prince. It was great! I did a number of guest posts and interviews and bloggers were posting fantastic reviews. (Unfortunately I wasn't as active with replying to comments as I'd like to have been due to living with a tummy bug for the past 5 days. Yeah. Don't think about that!)

Almost every review of The Faerie Prince has a variation of the following in it:

"I can't wait to see what happens next. Rachel Morgan, please, please, write fast!" ~ Jessica Loves Books

"Anxiously awaiting the next book. Couldn't put this one down!" ~ Some Like it Paranormal

"... will have you dying for the next installment to be released as soon as possible!" ~ The Rest is Still Unwritten

"... I will be waiting desperately for the next installment." ~ The Book Hookup

Squeeeeee! I'm sure every single one of you authors can agree with me - how AWESOME is it to have people begging for your next book?! SO AWESOME! But - and this is a very small but because I am in no way complaining here - can anyone say PRESSURE?! I now have to deliver a third book that meets the high expectations of everyone who loved the second book. And while I have every intention of doing just that (says confident me), it kinda scares me!

So ... do any of you series-veterans out there have a word of advice for me? How do you keep up the fabulousness while also getting books out fast enough to please your desperate readers?

The Official Release of THE FAERIE PRINCE, the Favorite Fairytale Prince Blog Fest, and a Giveaway!

Happy book birthday to my newest baby, The Faerie Prince! Woohoo! I'm so excited for people to read it (and since I uploaded it a few days ago to make sure it was ready in time, a number of people have already found it!). If you're keen to read it, you can find it at the following places online, plus a few others:

~  ~  ~

In celebration of today's release, there's a blog fest happening where you get to tell people who your favorite faerie tale prince/hero is and why.

There are soooo many choices of awesome princes and heroes, both old and modern, and if I wrote this at a different time, I'd probably pick a different one. But right now, I'm going with ...

Flynn Rider from the animated movie Tangled

Why? I'm a big fan of the flawed character who messes up and then has to somehow redeem himself in order to win the love of the princess/heroine. After all, no one is perfect, right? Flynn Rider (a.k.a. Eugene Fitzherbert) starts out as little more than a thief. He thinks he can play Rapunzel with his infamous Smolder, but Rapunzel knocks him out with a frying pan instead (I'm also a fan of the heroine with guts!). Flynn agrees to take Rapunzel to see the floating lights purely for his own gain. But along the way, something changes ... He becomes a good guy. In typical hero fashion, Flynn/Eugene rescues Rapunzel from the evil enchantress. He and Rapunzel get married and live happily ever after--with much humor along the way.

So who's your favorite fairytale prince/hero? Sign up below and tell us between now and Sunday June 2nd!

In celebration, The Faerie Guardian is on sale for a limited time!

**GIVEAWAY**

There will be a giveaway running from now until the end of the blog tour (Sun 9 June). A giveaway where FOUR people could win something! The prizes are a signed copy of The Faerie Prince (or The Faerie Guardian, should the winner prefer that), an Amazon gift card, a mini book pendant and necklace, and a Creepy Hollow pin badge. Check out the pic below!
Giveaway is open internationally

Sign Up for THE FAERIE PRINCE Blog Tour and Release Day Blogfest

Hooray! We're just under two months away from the release of THE FAERIE PRINCE, and it's time to plan another blog tour! The book will be released on May 30th, and the blog tour will be held from June 3rd to 9th. If you'd like to take part, you can scroll further down this page and fill in the form.

If you share this image on your blog, it would be great if you could link back to this post (http://www.rachel-morgan.com/2013/04/sign-up-for-the-faerie-prince-blog-tour-and-blogfest.html)

I wanted to do something a little bit different on release day, so instead of just asking you all to do a generic announcement to tell the world that the book is available, I thought in addition to announcing the release of THE FAERIE PRINCE, you could also tell everyone who your favorite faerie tale prince is, and why :-) You can pick any prince/hero from any fairy tale, old or modern (and if you have an objection to posting about your favorite prince, you could tell us who your favorite princess is instead!). You can do this on release day or for three days after that, i.e. from May 30th to June 2nd, whichever day suits you best. If you're keen, scroll down and add your name to the Simply Linked list.

If you share this image on your blog, it would be great if you could link back to this post (http://www.rachel-morgan.com/2013/04/sign-up-for-the-faerie-prince-blog-tour-and-blogfest.html)

Add your link to tell us who your favorite faerie tale prince is on May 30th!
(or between May 30th and June 2nd, if you can't do May 30th!)

***THANK YOU***

And before you go ... here's a little teaser ;-)

Cover Reveal for THE FAERIE PRINCE!

Weeheeeeee! It gives me great pleasure to present to you the cover for the second novel in the Creepy Hollow series, THE FAERIE PRINCE!

Guardian trainee Violet Fairdale is just weeks away from one of the most important occasions of her life: graduation. After messing up big time by bringing a human into the fae realm, Vi needs to step up her game and forget about Nate if she hopes to graduate as the top guardian of her year. Everything would be fine if she wasn’t forced to partner with Ryn, her ex-friend, ex-enemy, current ‘sort of friend’. They might be trying to patch up their relationship, but does she really want to spend a week undercover with him for their final assignment? On top of that, the possibly-insane Unseelie Prince is still on the loose, free to ‘collect’ as many specially talented faeries as he can find—and Vi is still at the top of his list. Add in faerie queens, enchanted storms, complicated not-just-friends feelings, and a murder within the Guild itself, and graduation is about to become the least of Vi’s problems.

Add THE FAERIE PRINCE to your to-read list on Goodreads.
If you haven't yet read the first book in the Creepy Hollow series, THE FAERIE GUARDIAN, you can find it at the following places:
Amazon, B&N, Apple iBookstore, Smashwords

Thank you to all the blogs that are helping me reveal this cover today or later this week. You guys ROCK!

Sign Up to Help Reveal the Cover of THE FAERIE PRINCE (CREEPY HOLLOW, #2)

Earlier in the year I was trying to decide whether the second Creepy Hollow novel should be released BEFORE or AFTER the A to Z Challenge (because it really shouldn't happen DURING the challenge!). I thought I'd be getting a lot more writing done this year, but in the past few months I've had some "delays" due to...

1. searching for a local printer for my first book
2. getting my first book into local bookstores and libraries (squee! And hence the need for no. 1.)
3. getting a puppy (ohmygoodness he's so cute but a lot of work!)
4. and ... I'm sure there was something else.

Anyway, so the release will definitely be AFTER the A to Z Challenge. The date I'm aiming for is

Thursday May 30th

In the meantime, a cover reveal is needed! And this is scheduled for

Tuesday April 2nd

If you'd like to help by revealing the cover on your blog (pleasepleaseplease!), then please fill in the form below with your email address and a few other details so I can send you the cover info.

If you can't see the embedded form, click here.

THANK YOU!
As a token of my gratitude, here is a picture of my completely adorable puppy.
His name is Flapjack :-)
(Try not to look into his eyes - he'll convince you to do ANYTHING for him!)

P.S. Also ... after telling people that I wouldn't be taking part in the A to Z Challenge, and then announcing on my blog that I WOULD be taking part ... well, I've now decided that I definitely can't (good thing I hadn't yet added my name to the sign-up list!). I want THE FAERIE PRINCE to be as awesome as possible, so that means no distractions in April!
