Guess the Wacky Word! A, B, C

Do you know the game Balderdash? Speaking from personal experience, if you play this game with the right kind of people in the right kind of mood, it can be utterly hilarious! You should really get it if you're into board games (and I'm not embarrassed to admit that I'm a board game kinda person :-) ). Anyway, I've decided to start a little online version of Balderdash :-) I'm going to look for weird, unusual words. The kind of words I've never heard before. I'll post several different definitions, and then you get to vote for the definition you think is correct!

PLEASE don't Google the word! That kinda defeats the point. Just take a wild guess, vote, and see what other people have picked. I will post the answers in the comments so you can see if you're right, so PLEASE don't look down there until you've voted!

Today's words are aeolist, bathykolpian and causeuse. The poll widgets are below for you to vote on. (If you're reading this post in an aggregator such as Google Reader, you may need to click through to this blog in order to see the polls.)

DON'T LOOK HERE TILL YOU'VE VOTED!

Okay, here are the answers:

Aeolist: A pompous windy bore who pretends to have inspiration.

Bathykolpian: Having a large bosom.

Causeuse: A sofa built for two people.

Ha! Got all 3 wrong. I love board games, but don't have this. Obviously, it would be a bad idea to go out and buy it. *grin*

I messed it up! :( I clicked on vote after the first one and it wouldn't let me vote on the next 2...

I did get the first 1 right & blew the other two anyway :)

I got them all wrong. I've never even heard of these words, which is too bad because they're awesome.

This was great. You'll have to do this again.

I got them all wrong. Hooray! :-)

I too ADORE balderdash. Some of my funniest camping memories are balderdash-related.

I missed all three! Couldn't figure out any kind of word origin system. That was fun - thanks Rachel:)

I got the first two. Admittedly, I got the second one only because that's what I hoped it would be.

Thanks for playing guys! Very interesting to see the results, hehe ;-)

I guessed the first two correctly based on Greek roots: Aeolus was the Greek god of wind, whereas as bathy means deep. The third looks like some silly French word.

Zero for three! :( But this is going to be fun! :)

I got the first one right, but I was with the majority for two of them. That should almost count. haha. Fun game.
