Textbook Famous!

The only time you should really get excited about a textbook is when you've WRITTEN WHAT'S IN IT!

At the end of last year when I was teaching for part of the day and planning a wedding for the other part of the day, I was also writing short stories for Grade 7, 8 and 9 Core Readers for English First Additional Language. And yesterday I finally got to see copies of these readers! And meet the other writers and the team that put the books together! (And eat cake, which was a very important part of the afternoon.)

I've never thought about writing picture books before, but I can now imagine the excitement a picture book author feels when they see the illustrations that go with their story--because there are all these gorgeous pictures that have been drawn to match my stories! SO. COOL!

The beautiful books.

There was an initial panic because the cakes were late, but they were worth the wait!

Meeeeeee! (But you knew that ;-) )

One of my stories in the Grade 8 Reader.

One of my stories in the Grade 9 Reader (I had so much fun writing this Facebook one!)

Well, isn't that cool. I think it would be cool to be in a text book in, like, 100 years. You know, something like "important authors of the early 21st century."

Very cool! What are the stories about?

I loved seeing a visual representation of my characters on the cover of my book so I know what you mean about having your words turned into images. Such a cool experience. :-)

Loved the picture books, I would add more to the one I've written if I could afford the cost of the illustrator.... must improve my drawing skills... sigh..
