What's Happening with Creepy Hollow in 2013?

Most of you know that I’m a mathematics teacher. For the past three and a half years I’ve been working at this awesome school called Inanda Seminary. What I haven’t told you yet is that I’m no longer teaching there this year because I’m now married and living just a bit too far away to drive there every day. This is both sad (my students were awesome and I’m really going to miss them) and exciting (I have more time to write now!).

2012: So last year I was writing in my limited spare time and I managed to release four novelettes, which equaled one novel.

2013: This year I have TWO Creepy Hollow novels planned (the remaining two in the trilogy) and at least one other unrelated novel.Yay! Creepy Hollow Book 2 should be released in March/April. Although ... I'm aware that the A to Z Challenge happens in April, so if the book is only ready for April, should I instead leave it for May? I don't know yet. Creepy Hollow Book 3 will probably be released in July.

And ... there's something else I may be launching this year, but I'll keep that a secret for now ;-)

What do you think? Would you release a book in the middle of the April A to Z Challenge? Or would you wait until that's finished?

For many, writing full time is a dream!
Releasing it the first week of May might be best. Any site that features it will get a lot of attention if they are part of the Challenge - and not much if they aren't. Or release it the last week of April and start touring in May.
And I would be happy to do a BIG shout-out for you on release day.

Hmm, think I'd definitely work around the Challenge. Last year, it was all I could do to keep up and had little time for reading.

I have tagged you on my blog, do take a look if you have time, Rachel. :0)

Personally, I would try to avoid the challenge. You'd miss out on a lot of favorable blog-energy that's distracted in April. :)

Hi there hopped over from Carole's blog lovely to meet you.

Woohoo! I'm glad to hear the books will be out later this year!!

Personally, I would wait until May to release it. Releasing a book in April is difficult if you're doing the challenge.

Unless you plan to make promo on your book a fixture on your challenge posts, it may be difficult to release during April.

Love the series. Can't wait to read the rest of the books this year! My vote is for an April release if it's not to much of a hassle.

I'd recommend May as well for a release :) Everyone will be way super crazy in April and less likely to be able to fit in guest posts, etc.

Sounds like 2013 will be a busy and awesome year for you!!

Congrats again on your marriage :)

You have to decide what's right for you. If you can fit it in April go for it. Glad you have more time to write and congrats again for getting married.

This is very exciting news Rachel. It is sad you won't be working with your students, but exciting you will be writing so much. Three novels is a great plan. Wishing you lots of luck =)

I can't wait for the next Creepy Hollow!

You have a point about releasing during the A-Z - blogger/writers will be pretty busy. I'd wait until May :)

AND! I can guess what the next surprise is ;<)

Ooo - I have been waiting for this post for a while! I'm anxious to read the next part of the story, though I might wait until the first week of May to get past A-Z craziness.

Can't wait to see what else you coming up with!

I will admit that I am not as well-versed in writing as many of the commenters above but it seems that May is the consensus thus far :)

Keep in mind if you do put it off until May, a lot of people who took part in the A-Z challenge are burnt out by the end of April. They often take a minimum of the first week of May off for a break.

COngrats to you, Rachel. 2013 sounds like an exciting year for you.

Wow! That's impressive! Congrats on your wedding, too (I haven't had a chance to say that yet!). And if you ever want to do some guest posting on my blog for releases or whatever, just let me know!

Sounds great! I would probably leave it until May if it was me. Not that people can't pick up the book afterwards... but it seems like it would be easier to do blog tours and things if it wasn't during the A to Z challenge.
