A Creepy Hollow Decision

Remember when I asked people to vote on the future of the Creepy Hollow series? And half of the voters wanted me to continue producing the series in little bits every two months or so (that would be about ten installments), and the other half said they prefer to read novels and they don't mind waiting longer for a novel-length book (there would be three of those)?

So ... I've thought about it and decided ... I'm only going to publish the series in novel-length format from now on. The first novel (which is a compilation of the first four short installments) has its official launch tomorrow, the second novel will be published in the first half of 2013, and the third novel in the second half of 2013.

Now, the fact that novel #1 is also available in four short parts (namely Guardian, Labyrinth, Traitor and Masquerade) is going to be--and has already been--confusing to some people. To those who haven't been following my publishing journey, it may look like those are prequel/companion novelettes. So ... I've decided to remove these short ebooks from online retailers. Since Guardian is currently free on Smashwords and Amazon (the US Store, anyway), I will leave it available as The Faerie Guardian, Part I. It's cool to have a freebie out there :-) But I'll be removing the other three installments.

And there you have it :-)

If you look on my sidebar you'll see I'm having a mini blog tour this week--mini as I'm still organizing a number of wedding things at the moment! I've also started moving my stuff to our-next-year-house (it's an hour away from where I currently live). SO. MUCH. FUN setting up home! Who would have thought buying a bed and linen and blinds could be so exciting?! Hehe, if you've been there I'm sure you know what I'm talking about ;-)

Cool to combine the books into one! I still don't think moving is fun though. But glad you're enjoying the process.

Yeah, I'm with Alex, I hate moving. Things never get all the way unpacked.

Good luck with your revamp, although I'm not sure why you don't release them as small bits on the way to the big bit.

I like the idea of combining the books! Now I just have to learn some patience to wait to find out what happens next. :)

So exciting! Can't wait to read them all in one novel.

Yep! Decorating a new home is lots of fun. Moving, on the other had, is not:)

Yay, great choice!

And I do know what you mean. Though moving itself isn't fun, a new place to decorate and organize from scratch is a great feeling. Especially when you're working alongside the one you love. :)

I think getting rid of the three novelettes is a good idea, since it is confusing. The first one makes sense to keep because it's free anyway.

You've got some writing to do for the next 2 books! Good luck with your wedding and future publishing. ;)

Happy to have a novel-length compilation to read instead :) But can I get it in print format from Book Depository?? :)

Sounds like a great plan to me. And yes, I remember the excitement of buying the first items for your combined home! So glad you're enjoying it! :-)

I enjoyed reading about your thought process here. One of the things I love about being in indie is that we're allowed to try things out and chuck 'em if they don't work. I've been playing with the idea of turning beginning of my current WIP into a novella so I can give it away for free. Sounds like you're having a lot of success with it!

I understand your decision, but I still love those book covers. -sigh- You should make them into posters or something if you can.

I agree with your choice! YAY I cant wait! You should draw up what the guardian markings look like and post it on the creepy hollow website.

Sky, that would be a great thing to add to the website! But I'm not COMPLETELY certain what they look like in my head, which is why I haven't done it yet! Wouldn't want to mess it up!
