Cover Love: Abandon, by Meg Cabot

I have fallen in love. With a book cover. In fact, this should be called Cover Adoration, not just Cover Love.

I love the colour palette, the brown-gold-sepia look. I adore the beautiful dress the girl is wearing. I love how she's lying there across the earth, with one arm thrown back, so... abandoned! And I love, love, love the gracefully twirling flower pattern.

In summary: This is one book where I've been definitely, seriously, majorly influenced purely by the cover!

  1. Hi Rachel, I agree - that's outstanding cover art. Is there an artist credit? I'd be interested to know who the artist was.

  3. Rachel this cover is gorgeous! :D The "she knows what it's like to die" is interesting too. I'd buy this book, I wouldn't even have to read the inside to see what it's about. ;) The flowers are pretty, too!

  6. That IS lovely. I especially like how it drapes across the entire cover, even to the back. Good stuff! I hope I'm as lucky when I get published, to get a strong cover. :)

  7. Yes,

I can certainly see why you have so much adoration for this cover. The stenciling is very similar to your blog backdrop.... coincidence? Maybe not...

  8. You're right! It's gorgeous! Have you seen the cover for The Vespertine? I think it's a similar palette and equally gorgeous!

  9. Tony, the small print on the back inside flap says:

    Jacket photograph by Michael Frost
Jacket design by Elizabeth B. (and I think the surname is Parisi - can't see clearly!).

  10. I agree, the cover is beautiful. An entire book, I was completely taken by: ghostgirl by: Tonya Hurley. The cover is black with pink flowers and the girl is in a cut out coffin. The pages are silver. Every pages is a pleasure to look at. The book was $18. I'd buy it again, just to hold the thing. LOL

  12. Completely agree. Absolutely adore this cover. I'd love the cover of my first book to look something like this. By the way, I look forward to crusading with you in the writers' platform-building crusade!

  13. This is a very beautiful cover. I definitely judge books by their cover. Can't help it. If it looks boring I'm probably not going to pick it up.

I'm in your crusade group by the way.
