Teaser Tuesday (14): Past Perfect

Title: Past Perfect
Author: Leila Sales

I glared at him. "You came all the way to Essex just to spy on us?"
"Yeah." He smirked. "I crossed the street. It was really rough."

Ah, I do like a good bit of sarcasm... :-)

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme hosted by MizB of Should be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:
  • Grab your current read.
  • Open to a random page.
  • Share two "teaser" sentences from somewhere on that page.
  • BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! Make sure that what you share doesn't give too much away! You don't want to ruin the book for others!
  • Share the title and author too so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR lists if they like your teasers!

  3. Hi Rachel! What fun- thanks! The excerpt you chose was great!

I'm a fellow campaigner in the Fantasy & YA categories. I'm not in your groups, but I wanted the fun of getting to know more writers. It's so great to meet you!

I had fun reading about you in your ABOUT ME tab. I loved where you wrote that when you grew up in South Africa, you spent a lot of that time living in your imagination. Fantastic!

  7. I'll play! I'm reading Storyteller, by Sherry Isaac:

I crumpled then, words reduced to bubbles of spit on my lips. Jim gathered me up in his arms before I hit the ground.

    Great idea!

  8. Me, too! I'm reading The Distant Hours by Kate Morton. (she's sooo good.)

Perhaps Percy only imagined the rotting odor? It had been an unfortunate phantom lately; it turned out there were some things, once smelled, that could never be escaped.

  10. I kissed him back. I forgot time. I forgot my feet.I forgot the people outside, waiting for us to rejoin the party. I forgot what happens when friends cross into this space. And if my lungs didn't fill, and my heart didn't beat without my intervention, I would have forgotten about them, too.
